CEO Andrew Wilson announced the layoff round in a message to employees on Wednesday, telling them that the company had “deeply considered every option to try and limit impacts to our teams.” EA reported a 13,400-worker headcount for March 2023 in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, but announced a 6% cut that month, meaning that the new 5% cut will likely hit at least 600 workers.
“We are streamlining our company operations to deliver deeper, more connected experiences for fans everywhere that build community, shape culture, and grow fandom,” Wilson wrote in his Wednesday message.
